How a bra should fit

What do you think? Leave a comment
  1. Smooth fitting cups: The edges of the cups should also lie flat against your breast. If there is a gap (even more so with padded bras), adjust your shoulder straps tighter or you may need to go down a cup size.
  2. Center cleavage panel should lie against your breast bone. If it does not, this could be a sign that your cup size is too small or the cleavage panel is not wide enough to accommodate the separation between your breasts. The larger the breast, the harder this is to achieve especially with non-underwired bras.
  3. A finger can be run under the front band. Support from your bra should mostly come from the rib band. Be sure your rib band is fitting snug but not tight and uncomfortable. Adjust the rib band clasp to accommodate.

*Because bras tend to stretch in back, your bra should fit firmly on the loosest hook when new.
  4. The rib band of the bra in the front and back should be parallel to the floor or slightly lower in the back and the lower edge of the rib band should be below the shoulder blades. The lower the back fits, the better the support.

Still not a perfect fit? Try a different brand or style. Just like every other item of clothing, there are different cuts or designers that may suit you better. Just as you have a favorite brand or style of jeans, you may have to search a bit to find the best brand or style of bras for you.
