Nipple covers win big in lingerie as outerwear fashion trend

Hide your nipples while showing off your lingerie

Trendy-Lingerie.com — More and more women are wearing sheer lingerie as outerwear, sparking a virtual run on nipple covers.

The fashion trend means women are no longer hiding sheer teddies, lace bodies and barely-there bras. After all, most lingerie is far too pretty — or sexy — to hide.

Britain’s Daily Mail quotes Helen Attwood, head buyer for lingerie at Selfridges, who explains: “Underwear as outerwear isn’t a new phenomenon, however this spring designers such as Stella McCartney and Christian Dior are taking it to another level.”

“Our customers are spending upwards of £250 [€286; $398] on sheer bodies which they don’t want to keep hidden under clothes.”

However, in a change from the see-through blouse rage of the early seventies, this time around many women opt to hide their nipples — using nude-colored nipple covers.

Nipple Cover

Nipple covers invisibly conceal your nipples so that you can wear lace tops, clingy blouses or sheer dresses without showing your nipples.

Nipple covers come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Most are made of silicone, while others are made of foam.

Nipple Covers

You can choose between adhesive or non-adhesive, as well as disposable or re-usable.

Most non-adhesive silicone nipple covers, such as Nippies, stay in place using body heat and light suction. The product’s celebrity fans include Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Bosworth, Lauren Conrad, and Rihanna.

Nippies also sells an adhesive version, which is best worn in place of a bra for fail-proof coverage. They are recommended for smaller breasted women who don’t want to wear a bra, women who need a little lift when going braless, or women who lead an active lifestyle.

Bra Discs

Even when going bra-less or wearing sheer lingerie as outerwear is not an option, nipple concealers can come in handy.

Many women and teenagers use them underneath their regular bras in order to prevent their nipples from showing through T-shirts or other tops.

Products such as these Bra Discs are popular because women concerned about nipple protrusion no longer have to wear padded bras.
